Emily Rena-Dozier, JD

Emily Rena-Dozier (she/her) is the State Litigation Unit Attorney for Housing at the Oregon Law Center, where she advises and supports legal services attorneys in housing and appellate litigation. In 2021, she co-founded the Eviction Defense Project, which defends tenants with low incomes from eviction throughout Oregon. Emily also directs Oregon Law Center’s appellate committee. 
 
Emily has worked in legal services throughout Oregon. Her cases have involved eviction defense, fair housing, civil rights claims against government agencies, protective orders for survivors of domestic violence, and administrative actions involving long-term care. Emily’s appellate work has involved cases before the Oregon Supreme Court and Court of Appeals on housing, domestic violence, and administrative law. 
 
Emily graduated from Columbia Law School, after which she clerked for former Chief Justice Walters at the Oregon Supreme Court. Before becoming an attorney, Emily received her Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Chicago, and taught at the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois at Chicago, Harold Washington College, St. John’s College in Santa Fe, N.M., and Portland Community College. Emily frequently presents at CLEs for the Oregon State Bar, the Multnomah Bar Association, and for various public service organizations.
