Who We Are
The Portland Regional Office of Legal Aid Services of Oregon serves Clackamas, Hood River, Multnomah, Sherman and Wasco Counties.
Intake hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Our services include the following areas of law: Family Law, Government Benefits, Homeless Law, Housing Law, Senior Issues, Individual tax issues, Other Legal Matters and Free Legal Clinics. We also operate a Public Benefits Hotline at: 1-800-520-5292.
Legal Aid has Spanish and American Sign Language interpreters on staff and will make arrangements for interpreters for other limited English speakers. If you need an interpreter or use a TTD, call (503) 224-4086, or come to our office to schedule a future appointment.
In addition to services provided through our office, intake is available for Spanish speaking people at El Programma Hispano in Gresham. For more information, call (503) 669-8350

This group provides the following types of services based on your legal needs and its resources: |

Description of Services | Family Law: Advice, self-help materials, and representation in court for restraining orders, stalking orders, divorce, child custody, parenting time, parental kidnapping, and child and spousal support. Government Benefits Law: Advice and representation to people who are having problems with cash assistance, medical, or other government benefits programs such as: Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), General Assistance (GA), Food Stamps, Social Security, SSI, the JOBS program, the Oregon Health Plan, Temporary Assistance to Domestic Violence Survivors (TADVS), Medicaid, Medicare, day care payments, vocational rehabilitation, or unemployment compensation. Call the Legal Aid Statewide Public Benefits Hotline at (800) 520-5292. Homeless Law: Advice and representation to homeless people whose cases involve shelter or provider issues, sidewalk obstruction, camping, park, ODOT, or Tri-Met exclusions, or other civil rights matters that derive from a person's status as a homeless person. Housing Law: General Housing: Advice and limited representation on landlord-tenant problems such as illegal Evictions: Advice and referral concerning evictions from private housing. Senior Law: Advice and representation of seniors who have problems with VA benefits, long term care facilities, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security benefits, Oregon Project Independence, elder abuse, property and renters' tax relief, guardianships, some debt collection and other consumer issues. Individual Tax Issues: LASO’s Multnomah County office helps low-income taxpayers anywhere in the state of Oregon with tax problems. Most tax cases can be handled by phone and fax or mail, without the need to go in person to the Portland office. Call the Portland office at 503-224-4086 or 1-888-610-8764 to see if you qualify. Other Civil Legal Matters: Legal Aid also accepts a limited number of cases involving special education, police misconduct, discrimination based on race, disability, gender or sexual orientation, and other individual rights cases. |
