After your spouse gets a copy of the divorce papers, you need to turn in your proof of service form to the court. This lets the court know that your spouse got the divorce papers.

Wait 30 days

After you've served your spouse, you must give them 30 days to file a "Divorce Response." A Divorce Response is a court form that tells you what details of your divorce your spouse disagrees with. Your spouse doesn't have to file a divorce response if they agree with everything in your divorce papers.
